In today's post: Wheatgrass is loaded with nutrients ... but which nutrients?
You can find out in two ways: (1) we can do it the easy way by reading this article or (2) you can spends loads of hours researching it on your own only to discover the exact same information in this short but information-packed article. Continue reading here:
Within the young tender sprouts of wheatgrass lie one of nature's few "whole foods" -- fast becoming one of the most popular and widely used health supplements for very sound nutritional reasons:
Chlorophyll ... 20 amino acids, several hundred different enzymes not found in other foods, as many as 90 out of 102 possible minerals, a full menu of vitamins, phytochemicals, and other important nutrients. Authorities have described chlorophyll as "Quite possibly the closest thing to the fountain of youth man has ever conjured up."
Wheatgrass is plain chock full of nutrition! Take a look:
Vitamins:Vitamin C, Vitamin E (succinate), Vitamin A (beta-carotene), choline, B1 (thiamine), B2 (riboflavin), B3 (niacin), B5 (pantothenic acid), B6 (pyridoxine), B7 (biotin), B9 (folic acid), B12 (cyanocobalamin), Vitamin K
Wheatgrass contains the entire B-complex:The B-complex vitamins are actually a group of eight vitamins, which include thiamine (B1), riboflavin (B2), niacin (B3), pantothenic acid (B5),pyridoxine (B6), biotin (B7), folic acid (B9), and cyanocobalamin (B12). The B-complex is essential for:
Minerals and Trace Minerals (partial list):zinc, selenium, phosphorus, potassium, calcium, boron, chloride, chromium, cobalt, copper, iodine, iron, magnesium, manganese, nickel, sodium, sulphur (up to as many as 90 out of 102 possible minerals)
Amino Acids:tryptophan, glutamic acid, alanine, methionine, arginine, lysine, aspartic acid, cystine, glycine, histidine, isoleucine, leucine, phenylalanine, proline, serine, threonine, tryosine, valine, and small polypeptides
Enzymes:super-oxide dismutase, peroxidase, phosphatase, catalase, cytochrome oxidase, dnase, RnaseSuperoxide, hexokinase, malic dehygrogenase, nitrate reductase, nitrogen oxyreductase, fatty acid oxidase, phosolipase, polyphenoloxidase, dismustase, transhydrogenase (all told: several hundred enzymes not found in other foods)
Phytochemicals:chlorophyll, carotenoids, bioflavonoids, growth hormones, RNA, DNA
Fatty Acids:linolenic acid
In those tender young shoots of wheatgrass, you get a bounty of nutrition:
The most popular way to eat these tender wheatgrass shoots? By making fresh wheatgrass juice in a juicer. And three weeks ago, you learned about the risks in drinking fresh wheatgrass juice.
But for this week's post, know this: The nutritional content of wheatgrass includes chlorophyll, minerals, and amino acids not found in other foods -- and certainly far above and beyond any multi vitamin-and-mineral supplement you can take.
Next week:We'll look at the global (personal) energy crisis, wheatgrass, and two effective solutions to go from being pooped, tired, worn-out to energized, refreshed, revitalized, and alive.
Nothing feels better than being healthy!
With our very best wishes to you,-- WheatgrassLove
